Winners of the 2020 Maritime Art Prize have been announced to an international audience via an online streaming event at the Mission to Seafarers Victoria, Docklands. The Maritime Art Prize and Exhibition is a highly regarded competition that has been hosted at the heritage- listed Mission building in Melbourne's Docklands for eighteen years. Striving for the pursuit of artistic perfection is the backbone of the annual RASart Exhibition of Excellence and is testimony to the passion of the 400+ strong membership of Redcliffe Art Society (RAS). From very humble beginnings back in the late 1950's the success that followed a local art competition fueled the passionate drive to constitute the Art Society in 1961 and planted the seed for RAS to champion the arts. Much of the council's art collection contains winning RAS artworks. The current competition is therefore aptly named.
