MEMBER SIGNUPNatasha Bieniek is best-known for her miniature oil paintings. Bieniek's paintings are meticulous in their execution and demand close inspection. They link the ancient tradition of 16th century miniature painting with present-day image culture. This exhibition brings together a suit of recent works that have not been seen together before, including Bieniek's stand out painting, Biophilia, which was the winner of the Wynne Prize in 2015.
Ruth Höflich is an artist and filmmaker, born in Munich, Germany, and currently based in Melbourne. Often beginning with photography, her multidisciplinary practice examines the process of image-making, which she sees as an imprint of the daily flow of energy and information.

Vipoo Srivilasa is a Thai-born Melbourne-based artist, curator and arts activist. Srivilasa works predominantly in porcelain but also in an inter-disciplinary manner, creating works on paper, mix media and bronze sculpture, as well as large scale public art. Srivilasa’s playful blend of 19th century European figurines and Asian decorative art practices often explores contemporary cross-cultural and migration experiences.

Wanna Be A Rabbit is a fusion of physical theatre, story-telling, visual installation and Japanese Butoh, in collaboration between Weave Movement Theatre and international Butoh performance artist, Yumi Umiumare. The work moves between the surreal and absurd; humorously reversing perceptions of difference and exploring themes, such as the tendency to categorise, distance and suspect ‘outsiders’. WHAT?! An outdoor pool? In Hart van Zuid, at the Annie M.G. Schmidt square in Rotterdam, a functional artwork has been launched in the shape of... a swimming pool - just before the start of the Eurovision Song Contest. Not a real one of course, but an artistic interpretation that serves as an interactive meeting place for the inhabitants of Rotterdam and visitors. The Splash, a collaboration between Arttenders and artist Cindy Bakker, is inspired by the natural appeal of paddling pools. It is a place where functionality, art, spatial development, and policy solutions come together through social design. The work is 'officially' put into use from April 28 on, but can already be admired!
