Erin Conron “ Intersect, 3 June - 20 June 2021

Published by: Beaver Galleries | 28-May-2021

Erin Conron forms beautiful blown glass vessels where the glass is used as a canvas for layered complex linear patterns. Her new work examines the intersection of separate parallel planes. As she says, On a conceptual level the horizontal plane is the visible, tangible, form based exterior world. The vertical is non-visible, separate from space and time, the private inner space. Through repeated simplicity I create complexity, energy and movement, allowing the viewer to experience the work from different perspectives and inviting reflection and contemplation.

Judith White “ Bush Cove, 3 June - 20 June 2021

Published by: Beaver Galleries | 27-May-2021

The interplay of water in landscape continues to inspire Judith White and her new body of work focuses on the beautiful natural environment of the south coast of New South Wales. Using her unique layering process of pigment and collage, Judith lets abstract shapes dance across the canvas surface echoing the snaking of water and sand through rocks and scrub. By abstracting the solid landscape, Judith aims to illuminate the sensory effect of these bush, beach and creek sanctuaries which team with bird call, light and peace.

The acclaimed Australian String Quartet in concert with Genevieve Lacey at Melbourne Recital Centre, Tuesday 1 June at 7pm. The concert will feature a classic string quartet by Felix Mendelssohn and contemporary work by Pavel Fischer. Completing the program are works by Australian composers Elena Kats-Chernin and a brand-new work by Lachlan Skipworth, both pieces feature recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey. I'm very excited to be playing not one but two glorious Australian works with the wonderful musicians of the ASQ. Elena Kats-Chernin's Re-Inventions are deservedly loved by audiences ” they're infectiously joyous ” and we can't wait to premiere Lachlan Skipworth's hauntingly expressive quintet. Being able to perform this gorgeous program in both Perth, Lachlan's hometown, and Melbourne, my hometown, only makes it even more special. Genevieve Lacey, guest artist.
