The improvisers take to the stage with themes they want to explore. Succeed, and the audience rewards them with a Banana. Fail in their role, the audience punishes them with a Forfeit. Ultimately the improvisers must create theatre that wins the audience over, or suffer the consequences. @impromelbourne
Davey Lane has been honing his craft for quite a while now - working in the studio and on stage with artists such as Crowded House, Jimmy Barnes, Robyn Hitchcock, Masters" Apprentices, The Saints as well as legendary Australian rock group You Am I, with whom he has been standing stage right on lead guitar since 1999. Years of learning from many local and international songwriting greats have seen Davey himself grow in turn as a songwriter, with a smart pop sensibility, a keen ear for a big chorus and a surreal turn of phrase.

Victorian heats of the Australian Poetry Slam are soon to begin as State Library Victoria hunts for our top slam talent. State Library Victoria is inviting Victoria"s spoken word artists, poets, wordsmiths and rappers to rehearse their verse for a chance to compete in the Victorian finals of the 13th annual Australian Poetry Slam, the largest poetry slam program in the southern hemisphere. From 1 July to 2 September, the State Library will coordinate heats at local libraries and public spaces across the state.
