For a single weekend this spring, you are invited to experience the world that unfolds within the working studios of artists in the delightful Yarra Valley. Open Studios is a premier cultural tourism event that allows visitors to traverse between the art of self-expression and functional objects dissevering of the spotlight. The convenience and chaos of a digital world often leaves a gap – a yearning to experience that which reminds us of our humanity. Nothing achieves this quite like objects made by hand and the opportunity to meet the artists who create them. The Open Studios program is for people looking for the authentic and artisanal.

The artists, designers and craftspeople of this stunning region invite you to enjoy handmade objects and artwork in the context in which they are made. The 2013 program includes 28 inspiring studios and a group exhibition at The Memo in Healesville. The studios are can be discovered in Healesville, Yarra Glen and Warburton and scattered throughout the Yarra Valley in the most desirable locations. The annual Open Studios exhibition features new work from each participating studio created to showcase the creative energy and skill in translating concept into object. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to see work from each of the artists in one gallery, making the Memo a great place to start your studio tour.
