Yang-En Hume: Chamber

BY AirSpace Projects | 01-Jun-2015
The Vrolik Medical Museum, Amsterdam and the Museum of Morbid Anatomy, New York both employ a combination of scientific and theatrical means to display fragmented bodies. Both these museums endeavour to be informative places of research, however, they also to appeal to the curiosity of the general public by emphasising the macabre and abject nature of dismembered bodies. In highlighting these aspects their collections also embody the theatrical and mysterious. In the installation Chamber Yang-En Hume seeks to embody this amalgam of science and theatre by simultaneously conveying notions of collection, mausoleum and sanctuary. Yang-En Hume is a multi-disciplinary artist who graduated with a first-class Honours from the National Art School in 2013, receiving an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.
