Written by the Sea, 27 July - 2 August 2012 Darron Davies Written by the Sea uses photography to explore the extraordinary abstractions that can be discovered on the surface of boats. As boats are repaired fascinating textures and patterns are revealed through cut back wood , fiberglass and paintwork.

Using considered framing Darron Davies’ photography reveals intriguing stories that can be found on the surface of boats - images that are metaphors, allusions to other worlds, like abstract expressionist paintings in the every day. Darron Davies is a Melbourne based photographer who draws upon images from Melbourne, Geelong and Auckland boatyards.
