World premiere of Treecircle Media Platform to open the third annual Melbourne WebFest.
“All of us at MWF are very excited to be opening this year's festival with the launch of such a cutting edge and dynamic platform. Treecircle Media’s CEO Damien Javelle is an alumni of the festival (his series 3x3 was an official selection in 2013) and we’re thrilled that he’s chosen MWF to launch his new platform,” said Festival Director Steinar Ellingsen.
“We believe that MWF shares the same vision as Treecircle Media, dedicated to showcasing the best web series while supporting creators and the industry as a whole. The inclusion of 3x3 The Immersive Fiction to our opening night program will set the bar high for an engaging and compelling festival,” he continued.
In addition to launching the platform here in Melbourne, Damien will also present an Innovation Award at MWF’s gala awards. The winner of the award will have access to advice and consultation with TreeCircle Media’s graphic artists and developers, to create an interactive interface for their series on the platform — with the view to help the winner distribute their series on a range of platforms and devices.
Opening night, taking place on July 10 at Deakin Edge (Fed Square) also features a keynote presentation from Connor Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier, two of the creators of Bondi Hipsters and Soul Mates.
Other opening night highlights include the premiere of Melbourne WebFest Presents and a sneak peek from a new documentary series, Magnify Melbourne, with an episode produced in collaboration with La Trobe University students and The Big Issue.
