World Premiere of A.K Wregg's DOROTHY IN OZ - AN IMMERSIVE COCKTAIL ADVENTURE
Immersive theatre fans are clicking their heels in excitement with news that A.K. Wregg’s Dorothy in Oz: An Immersive Cocktail Adventure will enjoy its world premiere as part of the 2025 Sydney Fringe, from 3rd to 28th September. The experience will headline the brand-new Cabaret Hub at Marrickville Town Hall, where the foyer will transform into a Kansas-themed bar, and audiences will leave the city behind to step into the magical world of Oz.

From the brilliant mind of A.K. Wregg - creator of the international smash hit The Alice: An Immersive Cocktail Adventure, The Wizard's Den, and The Art of Murder, comes an adventure where you're not just a spectator, but a key player in an entirely new Oz story!

Arrive in Kansas Bar to meet a sepia-toned Dorothy, then be whisked away by a fateful twister to arrive in the lands of Oz for Princess Ozma’s birthday party – where you are one of just thirty honoured guests. There, you’ll solve puzzles and interact with colourful characters such as the Tinman, Glinda, and the wicked Mombi, all while creating a bespoke cocktail (or kids’ potion!) inspired by Oz.

Wregg says, “I can’t wait for audiences to explore this entirely original story. One that retains elements that people recognise and love from the films but also introduces them to the broader world of Oz and the glorious, weird and wonderful elements hidden away in the books.”

While not a musical, Dorothy in Oz will light up the town hall as it comes to life for the first time in the festival’s history, with over fifty cabaret, comedy and immersive experiences. Patrick Kennedy, Artistic Director and CEO of Sydney Fringe, says, “We’re proud to launch our new Cabaret Hub at Marrickville Town Hall with Dorothy in Oz, an innovative new immersive production from a brilliant generation of theatre makers. Supporting bold, independent voices like these is at the heart of Sydney Fringe, and we’re thrilled to see this vibrant reimagining of a classic story brought to life through our partnership with our longest-standing supporter, Inner West Council. We can’t wait to welcome audiences through those iconic doors and into the merry old land of Oz.”

This unforgettable experience combines the whimsy and wonder of L. Frank Baum's beloved classic book series with the thrill of interactive storytelling, live performance, cocktails, and delightfully surprising stage magic, with sessions for both kids and adults. Matinee performances will cater towards families and younger audiences.
