WORKHORSE THEATRE CO PRESENTS - SAVAGE IN LIMBO
Here he has written a dramatically compelling play dealing with our search for roots and purpose in an often purposeless world.
Although filled with comic lines, SAVAGE IN LIMBO has the serious intent of laying bare the unstated dreams and thwarted possibilities of its beautifully broken characters:
- Denise, the virgin loner;
- April, the failed nun now local drunk;
- Tony, the Italian stud who has decided only to sleep with “intelligent ugly girls”;
- Linda, the self-proclaimed ‘very fertile’ girlfriend of Tony;
- And Murk, the humourless bartender who oversees all that goes on in his bar.
Beautifully and poetically written, this is arguably Shanley’s best play.
Founded in 2011 Workhorse Theatre Co is an ensemble of hard-working artists committed to taking risks, truthfully telling 'the story' and collaborating on all levels to produce thought-provoking theatre. Its sell-out February production of Sheila Callaghan’s That Pretty Pretty; or the Rape Play made headlines and was both a critical and popular success.
Savage in Limbo is directed by legendary Opera Australia producer/director Stuart Maunder and stars Katherine Beck, Daniel Cordeaux, Troy Harrison, Chrissy O’Neill and Zoe Trilsbach.
