An adaptation of Atwood’s retelling of the myth of Penelope and her maids, hung by Odysseus upon his return from the Trojan War.

This production marks the 25th anniversary of the Women’s Circus and with humour and pathos explores the silencing of women’s stories and the prevalence of violence against women in our culture. This is an ancient story that speaks to us today - a story that gives a voice to the voiceless ‘maids’ of history and lets them speak, sing and dance.

The production features an ensemble of 30 dedicated members of the Women’s Circus - acrobats, aerialists, actors, musicians, and singers. With live music and songs, the production celebrates the artistry and passion of an extraordinary group of women and an iconic community organisation.
