Winterfall co-founder and cast member Michele Williams said, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? looks at the all-American dream that was held as supreme in the 1950s, and the sadness that eventuated when people felt they could not live up to its ideals. Albee’s genius lies in the way he looks at how society creates façades for itself – masks to hide behind, ways to behave so that we can fool ourselves and those who are closest to us.”
Denis Moore is a veteran Australian theatre director, as well as an actor of stage, film and TV. A Greenroom Award recipient for his direction of Harvest for Red Stitch Theatre, Moore has directed for Hit Productions, The South Australian Theatre Company, Playbox, The Malthouse, Red Stitch, La Mama, and was an instrumental director at the iconic Melbourne Pram Factory.
The play opens on Tuesday 21 June after a week of previews. The season will run until Sunday 10 July Tue-Sat, 7.3pm and Sun 2pm.
