Explore materials, movement, craft, colour, party and performance by making your own wearable art piece, inspired by fruit, lollies and the art of Rosie Deacon.
Rosie Deacon works across different forms including sculpture and installation, producing work that features an explosion of Australiana, colour and whimsy.
Deacon’s work is produced through a variety of processes related to aspects of kitsch, craft and folk art practices. In this workshop you will explore your intuition, creativity and obsession, working with materials both natural and manufactured to produce a unique piece of jewellery that can be thought of as wearable sculpture.
Rosie Deacon graduated with First Class honours form COFA, UNSW, 2010. She was the recipient of the Gallery Barry Keldoulis Grant for Emerging Artists and the Dinosaurs Designs Prize. Rosie has held solo exhibitions at Gaffa Gallery and 107 Projects Redfern, exhibited in several group shows in various Sydney ARIs and is exhibiting in Wonder at Hazelhurst Gallery. Her works resemble large scale fictional geographies, inhabited by hand-made animal sculptures.
