The Virtual Busker is waiting… she wants to play for you, only requiring a small donation in her hat to perform. Don’t worry, there’s no need to part with your own money. Pick up a penny from the bowl and place it in the hat. You may be surprised.
The Virtual Busker is an interactive audio-visual artwork by Roly Skender, co-produced by Revelation Perth International Film Festival and the City of Perth, featuring violin performances by musician Elisa Siipola. It draws on themes of social interaction, performance and the perceived threat of automation in a rapidly moving society. The Virtual Busker aims to create musical moments in public spaces, using nothing but digital machines and human curiosity.
Over seventeen nights throughout December the Virtual Busker will be projected on to the wall of the Commonwealth Bank in the Murray Street Mall, Tuesday to Saturday from 7pm to 9pm, providing entertainment for late night for Christmas shoppers.
