2016 Selby & Friends Season Montage

Pianist Kathryn Selby is joined by SSO Concertmaster Andrew Haveron and ACO Principal Cello Timo-Veikko Valve to celebrate the glorious diversity of piano trios and duos composed over the course of one century with a program built around the musical form of the Variation.

The program features performances of the following pieces:

- Beethoven - Piano Trio No 10 in E flat major, Op 44 Variations on an Original Theme
- Busoni - Kultaselle, 10 Variations for Cello and Piano on a Finnish Folksong
- Schubert - Fantasy for Violin and Piano in C major, Op 159 (D 934)
- Arensky - Piano Trio No 1 in D minor, Op 32

Described by one reviewer as exactly what chamber music is meant to be - intimate, conversational, captivating, the music of friends, and a thoroughly enjoyable, personal experience - the 2016 season is set to enchant audiences through the presentation of these timeless pieces by nationally renowned performers. This is a not-to-be-missed concert highlighted by three of the most illustrious chamber musicians resident in Australia today!
