Hello, I’m Erin Hill. Professional Artist for over 30 years. I’ve been painting and sketching here since 1999 and will take you to places I’ve discovered on my regular visits to Paris and the tiny village of Trausse and nearby areas in the Minervois area of Languedoc-Roussillon, South of France. My Sketch Art Tours are very personal and you’ll enjoy every moment. I take you to locations such as cafes, villages, bookshops, corners, bridges, canals & barges etc which appeal to me when I’m travelling. We sketch, we chat, we stop for coffee, we have lots of laughs. It’s a lot of fun. It’s like being with friends. I show you how to see. I teach you to Travel Sketch. This is a fully escorted tour for artists of all abilities. If you’d love to travel ( but with like-minded people) and record the things that appeal as you go, then this is for you. You will return with a wonderful sketchbook journal of your personal experiences, notes and memories. Come on your own or with partner or friends. I will be tutoring as we go, and there is no pressure at any time, and of course non-painting friends and partners will love it just as much. You need an average level of fitness, as we do a lot of looking around and exploring. Sometimes we may walk or catch metros, sketching as we go.

In South of France we’ll be walking around villages, sketching and enjoying fruit from the fig trees, almonds, olives, cherries, grapes and wild aromatic herbs . We will sketch the wine and food we enjoy. Other days we’ll be among Roman ruins, a hilltop village, a vineyard, a cemetery, and much more. All fantastic sketch locations with wonderful history. Sketching means just a sketch book and some pens, mini watercolour set and watercolour pencils in your bag, and is done at any moment you see an appealing scene. ( see list of what to bring under ‘Travel Sketch Classes’ in the menu bar ) Just a few lines and there you have it. I’ll help you add a dash of colour to complete the sketch. It’s as you see it, in a style all of your own. If you’ve never sketched before you’ll be hooked. If you are an experienced painter, you’ll enjoy gathering material for later works. If you prefer to paint, bring smaller pads, paints etc so that everything is portable as we move around.

The locations will inspire artists of all abilities, working in any medium. BOOKINGS Please email erin@erinhill.com.au to enquire about places available. Once confirmed we will send a Booking Form and Terms & Conditions. Please read carefully, sign and return to us with your deposit. You’ll be emailed when we receive this. A reminder will be sent when the balance of payment is due, which is 90 days before departure. If you have any questions at all about the Tours please contact Erin. If you’d like to see Steve & Marilyn’s Trausse website, showing La Bergerie & 45 Rue de Remparts, our houses in the South of France, you can view the video Steve has made. You’ll get a feel for the setting which will be our home in the South of France. If you’d like to receive our annual Erin Hill greeting card for ‘Our House in France’ (see 2011 above) please email me with your postal address. Yes they still come by old fashioned mail. erin@erinhill.com.au Other info Paris: Choose your own accommodation in Paris. We meet at 10am on the steps at the Pompidou Centre on Thursday May 16. This is our first full day of sketching and we have 3 full days in Paris.

Each morning we meet at 10am and go sketching till 12.30. Lunch in a little bistro will be an hour or so, then we’ll sketch till about 4pm. You are welcome to make your own plans for the rest of the day, but we can have dinner together if you like. We leave on Sunday morning, May 19, for Orly Airport for an Easyjet flight to Toulouse. You need to leave your hotel or apt by 7.30 – 8am for a 10am flight. South of France: All accommodation, meals & transport included. If you are coming from another city to meet us in Toulouse, please be there by midday. This is really important as we’ll be driving to our village from there.

If you are driving to Trausse, we’ll see you there from 2pm onwards. Each day after a buffet breakfast, we gather at 10am and head off to our location of the day. We have a picnic lunch with us, which we’ll have about 12.30. More exploring and sketching till 3.30pm and back home by 4pm. We meet in the garden of La Bergerie to see what we discovered that day. A drink before dinner to relax, then we’ll either eat in or at a local restaurant.

Please don’t feel any pressure to sketch if you’d rather explore. But sketching is addictive! Once you’ve got the idea there’ll be no stopping you. If you prefer just to take in the local sites & history of our locations you will find it just as fascinating and we’ll meet you back at the car. At the end of the week, we need to know what times your flights out of Toulouse are for us to get you there in time on Sunday May 26. Best to plan flights after midday to allow 2hrs to drive plus check in time. Happy Sketching meantime.
