Tim Allen has traveled extensively throughout Australia over the years to paint and draw en plein air. He has a strong affinity with the wilderness landscape. Recent plein air trips include the Snowy Mountains in NSW and the Northern Flinders Ranges in SA. Tim says of his current work; ‘I want to describe landscapes that are vast, silent and still as well as being imbued with energy and anxiety. I think these competing emotions form a paradox that is at the heart of my experience of spending time in wilderness environments.’
Tim received a MFA from COFA in 1997. He has been a finalist in numerous prizes including; the Dobell Prize, AGNSW 2012, 2009, 2006; the Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize 2012, 2010; the Kedumba Drawing Award 2013, 2009, 1999; the Paddington Art Prize 2012, 2006; the Wynne Prize AGNSW 2007; the Norvill Prize 2012, 2010, 2006 and the NSW Parliament Plein Air Prize 2012. Tim lives and works in the Blue Mountains in NSW.
