Returning to the beautiful philanthropic gallery space, fortyfivedownstairs, the parachute motif remains key in this new body of work. Paintings and prints inspired by 'Operation Hailstone' and the beauty of Truk Lagoon connect through their imagery, aspect and colour palette.

Operation Hailstone , a military offensive in 1944 in the central Pacific at Truk Lagoon, which was the location of Japan's naval stronghold during WW2, transformed the lagoon into a macabre and haunting graveyard. It is the resting place for hundreds of sunken warships, planes, and their ghosts. Nature has hidden and healed the scars of this event, and today this watery grave is an incredible time capsule and submerged museum within a peaceful flourishing marine ecosystem including the ghostly jellyfish that transcend its lagoons.
Small US military pilot parachutes that are reminiscent of jellyfish have inspired the artworks for the illusory "parajellys". These chutes will add a third dimension into the exhibition installed in front of a group of large works on paper that depict the fractured lagoons. The exhibition extends Printmaking and oil paintings and will showcase some historical maps and objects.
The exhibition officially opens at 5pm on Tuesday March 6th.
An Artist Talk will be presented on Saturday March 10th at 2pm. This will include a poetic musical performance of Leonard Cohen's A Thousand kisses deep by '2bow +'.
