As unpredictable as Connor himself, The Violent Outburst That Drew Me To You tackles the ticking time bomb of teenagerdom. Behind its sly and smart-arsed exterior is a searching exploration of adolescent anger, bound to strike a dissonant chord with anyone who’s ever caught a whiff of teen spirit. The inaugural recipient of a Sydney Myer Creative Fellowship, Finegan Kruckemeyer is one of Australia’s most exciting and celebrated playwrights. Finegan’s plays have been commissioned for performance across Europe, Asia and America, with The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy stated to be performed on Broadway.
The Violent Outburst That Drew Me To You, is directed by Kate Gaul, who has worked with every major theatre company in Sydney on productions ranging from musicals, opera and drama to Shakespeare. Kate is currently the Artistic Director of Siren Theatre Co where she has directed productions such as The New Electric Ballroom (By Enda Walsh), The Lunch Hour (By Chris Aronsten), Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Richard III and Twelfth Night . Set to the music of Daryl Wallis and featuring the talents of Emily Ayoub, Branden Christine, Michael Cutrupi, Anthony Weir and Kate Worsley, The Violent Outburst That Drew Me To You is a twisted, foot-stamping, magical and musical tale full of illusion and surprise for angry young people…and door-slammers past and present. Kruckemeyer creates a world that is almost hypnotic.
