Celebrated Australian dance theatre company Force Majeure present the world premiere of The Last Season, commissioned by Carriageworks and premiering from 6 “ 10 January at Carriageworks as part of Sydney Festival.

The Last Season brings together Australian stage icons Pamela Rabe (TV's Wentworth, Belvoir's The Glass Menagerie) and Paul Capsis (Griffin Theatre Company's Angela's Kitchen, ABC'S Carlotta) and the powerhouse Irish actor Olwen Fouéré (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Mandy, This Must Be The Place) with an ensemble of young performers, in a vibrant intergenerational conversation.

The ensemble of young performers features thirteen 9-14 year-olds from Force Majeure's youth company, hailing from all over NSW “ from Newcastle, to the Blue Mountains, to Avalon, to Sydney's inner west. The Last Season also marks their first time performing in a professional dance theatre production.

Using Vivaldi's Four Seasons as a departure point for an intergenerational conversation, The Last Season explores ageing, environmental destruction and speculative paths to human survival, asking: How did we get here? What have we built? How can we continue?

Force Majeure Artistic Director and Director and Choreographer of The Last Season, Danielle Micich said, At this critical time in human history, Force Majeure continues its commitment to making work exploring and questioning contemporary culture.

With original text by Tom Wright (Sydney Festival and QT's Black Diggers, STC's The War of the Roses) and original music by Kelly Ryall (You Animal, You and Melbourne Festival and Dark Mofo's The Bacchae), The Last Season is an important reflection on environmental wrecking and human survival, offering both a challenge and provocation, and a chance to do better.
