Equal parts glamorous cabaret salon and debauched dive bar, The Glitter & Doom Salon is a live performance experience like no other.
Fresh from a European premiere season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it was described by audiences as "the hot, slightly androgynous, dark and intensely alluring new kid on the block when it comes to cabaret", the Salon features Melbourne Fringe's most enigmatic cabaret stars and vibrant vaudeville artists.
Inspired by the title of Tom Waits' last live album, The Glitter & Doom Salon delves into the essence of cabaret artistry: the interplay of glamour, tragedy, satire and risk taking. It equally serves as a heartfelt homage to the music of Waits himself, an artist beloved by the contemporary cabaret scene and one of the all-time great songwriters of the skeezy dive bar/theatre circuit.
Expect performances of the most glitter-filled and doom-inspired kind, alongside performances of Tom Waits classics by emcee, performer and broadcaster Jennifer Kingwell.
