Now in its fifth year, The Farm Margaret River's funded residency invites Western Australian applicants who wish to specialise in site-specific projects to submit their work for consideration.

The Farm Margaret River is delighted to announce that applications are open for its annual funded Artist in Residence program.
This leading multidisciplinary program is unique to Western Australia, offering a supportive environment in a regional setting for creatives to conceive and develop new works and ideas. The residency focuses on site-specific projects and is open to Western Australian professional creatives of all disciplines, both early and established within their career.
For the duration of the residency, the successful recipient will be hosted by The Farm Margaret River in self-contained studio accommodation, located in the South West of Western Australia, country traditionally belonging to the Wardandi cultural group of the Nyoongar people. The artist will receive a $5,000 residency fee as well as initial travel expenses to the property and have access to a gallery space, workshop, working farm, and natural bushland.
Now in its fifth year, this opportunity assists in maintaining creative activities, supports arts practices, facilitates experimentation, and enables the transfer of knowledge through mentorships. The funding aims to support artists in undertaking research, creative development, and collaborations that are reflective of their time spent at the property.
The Farm Margaret River acknowledges that the arts and cultural industries have experienced, and will continue to experience, disruption from the impacts of COVID-19. This is an exciting opportunity for Western Australians as The Farm Margaret River continues to set out to create safe spaces, promote accessibility, constructive dialogue, and collective communities.
The selected recipient will be judged by proud Noongar (Whadjuk, Ballardong, Yuat) and Kungarakan woman, and mixed media contemporary artist Ilona McGuire. Susanna Castleden, Associate Professor in the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry at Curtin University and artist who creates predominantly large-scale works through drawing, printmaking, and text. As well as Robert Cook, Curator of Contemporary Design and International Art at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
Entries close at 5pm AWST Friday 6 May 2022, with the residency scheduled to run for five to eight weeks between 1 June - 30 September 2022.
