Jazz Party began as something to do on a Monday night at a pub on Greville St. The idea was to strip it all back. No sound guys, no lighting, no stages, no cover charge, no rehearsals, no media, no bullshit. They dragged a piano in and a small vocal P.A and just played for whoever turned up and convinced a lot of great artists to sit in.
From an initial small group of musicians and friends, Jazz Party quickly grew into a tradition for Monday nights for all different walks of people, moving between different bars across the city for a month-long residencies, lugging a piano up gutters and cramming the band into all sorts of situations and having a rock and roll reception to a rhythm and blues approach to jazz, country and soul music.
This is not a Monday night to stay at home. Come to the Party!
