The Echo Chamber - Topical, political comedy at Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2017

BY Paul Richards | 18-Mar-2017
Paul Richards (The Big HOO-HAA! Melbourne) makes his solo festival debut with a unique show, looking at some of the contentious issues that the last twelve months have served up in politics and current affairs. Taking its lead from the impact social media has on our day-to-day life, the opinions of the audience in attendance will drive the narrative, creating a stand-up show like no other.
"You are always right. Your political opinions are spot-on. You're strong. That new haircut looks amazing. I completely agree. I love you."

THE ECHO CHAMBER is the debut festival show from Paul Richards (UK), a regular in Melbourne-based improv ensemble, 'The Big HOO-HAA!'.

This is stand-up with a difference. Landing somewhere in-between a Dave Gorman/Ricky Gervais 'lecture' and a John Oliver/Trevor Noah topical satire, Paul will throw a selection of current affairs to that night's wonderful, super-intelligent audience, in order to decide how the show will move forward.

Underpinned with a heavy dose of politics and modern culture, 'The Echo Chamber' explores the influences of social media and peer pressure on our everyday lives and opinions. There's also a good chance of wry observation, gratuitous swearing and good old-fashioned British sarcasm.

"Paul Richards is going to tell you exactly what you want to hear."
