Following ensemble Residencies with the Australian Art Orchestra and Lebowski's DevRes programme, as well as performances at MONA, Tilde New Music Festival, Arts Centre Melbourne and Meat Market, instrumentalists Bianca Gannon and Elliott Hughes present an evening of new music exploring the spaces between the ancient and the modern, tradition and invention, and composition and improvisation. Their unique combination of gamelan, piano, and trumpet conjures a stunning sonic world, melding traditional Balinese timbres with classical European textures.

The Bianca Gannon/Elliott Hughes Duo will present a range of new works, as well as in trio and quartet formats with guests double bassist Josh Holt and gamelan musician Sophie Covey-Crump. They will also be joined by vocalist Jenny Barnes who will perform Gannon's I SAID NO!', a bold, personal and timely statement piece.

The second set will see live electronics added to the mix, with the traditionally acoustic instruments re-imagined in the present day through looping and effects. Ethereal, magical, and occasionally unsettling "“ with such a broad range of colours it is near impossible to predict where the duo will begin and where they will arrive, but absolutely a journey worth taking.
