From the team that brought us the hit lesbian dramedy 'The Bed Party' comes an hilarious new queer play - 'Tell Me Something'. Celebrated playwright and theatre-maker Sophia Davidson Gluyas joins forces with some of Queensland’s most exciting emerging actors — Shaun Casey, Axielle Doddridge, Jacob Edward, and Anna Wavrant — to deliver a dynamic new ensemble work that captures the humour, complexity, and heart of queer lives. The show follows BFFs Hamish and Bella who are both chasing love in all the wrong places and pushing their friendship to its limits in the process. It's a uniquely queer story about desire, denial, and the resilience of queer connection that is sure to resonate with community. Davidson Gluyas’ writing celebrates the humour, flamboyance, and intimacy of queer culture: from innuendo and snark to the comfort of community and the resilience of friendship. “My favourite thing about the way Sophia Davidson Gluyas writes is that there is such a strong presence of authenticity, She is able to capture queerness without it leaning too heavily on the negative tropes or themes” Says actor, Shaun Casey, who plays Matthew in the show. Casey adds that “Tell Me Something is an important work to show this moment in history [so that] generations of queer audiences can see themselves represented in a softer light without the weight of the queer exoskeleton, to see the importance of queer friendships, and realise the comfort of community. We are not to go back into our closets.” Tell Me Something will run at Metro Arts 29 October – 1 November Tickets on sale now: https://www.metroarts.com.au/event/tell-me-something/
