'Johnny' is an ode to a performer whose brash public persona is at odds with the real man behind the mask. Written and arranged by Tanzer, produced and arranged by Angus Leslie (Sex On Toast) and mixed by Jean¬-Paul Fung, 'Johnny' is a densely orchestrated epic with 1960s Phil Spector-inspired orchestral pop sensibilities.
Tanzer is a dark and dazzling enigma, spinning tales of desperate love affairs and fabulous heartbreak with a haughty glare and a swelling, thumping soundscape.
Equal parts dreamy, stark and seductive, Tanzer conjures 60s film soundtracks, new-wave divas and otherworldly exotica - but ultimately lives in a genre all her own.
