Aimed at children aged 6-12 and their families, the concert series includes three brilliant fun-filled concerts designed to instil in its young audience a life-long love for the wonders of classical music.

The first concert "“ James Morrison Presents "“ will see Australian jazz icon James Morrison introduce his young audience to the magical world of jazz and the symphony. He'll join the SSO to perform a show filled with roof-raising hits including Basin Street Blues and a funky rendition of Birdland.

In May beloved comedian Frank Woodley will take to the stage in The Composer is Dead, where there's a mystery to be solved and a whole orchestra full of suspects! Young fans will be introduced to the inner workings of an orchestra as they assist Inspector Woodley in solving Lemony Snicket's musical whodunit.

In The Pied Piper of Hamelin, the SSO will be joined by the Sydney Children's Choir, two narrators and on-stage illustrations. The SSO will perform the Australian premiere of this classic tale of greed and revenge reimagined for orchestra by British composer Colin Matthews.

Audience members will be invited to participate in activity stations set-up in the Concert Hall foyers before and following each of the concerts.

Activities will include a Composing Wall where children will be encouraged to write their own pieces of music, an Exotic Instrument Stand where they can learn about instruments including the Shakuhachi and Theremin and a Percussion Club where an SSO percussion musician will be teaching participants about percussion music and techniques.
