Sydney Eisteddfod Gala Concert
Held at the iconic Sydney Town Hall, the gala concert will showcase the extraordinary talent of over 80 Sydney Eisteddfod alumni including violin virtuoso Anna Da Silva Chen, leading Australian flautist Rosie Gallagher, and Limelight “gen next” cellist Bennett Tsai.

The opening performance promises to be an unforgettable night of celebration, bringing together music lovers of all ages. Featuring an orchestra of musicians united by their shared history with the Sydney Eisteddfod, the performers will present a breath-taking program of classical music under the expert baton of Göttinger Symphonie Orchester Chief Conductor, Nicholas Milton AM.

Chair of Sydney Eisteddfod, Max Holzner says, “for almost a century, Sydney Eisteddfod has played a vital role in nurturing young talent and enriching Australia's cultural landscape. I am beyond excited to celebrate 90 years of performance, opportunity, and legacy at this year’s Gala event”.

As previous winners of Sydney Eisteddfod’s NSW Drs Orchestra Instrumental Scholarship (16-25 years), both Da Silva Chen and Gallagher have experienced the life-changing opportunities provided by the Eisteddfod. Described by ABC Local as “one of the country’s most promising violinists”, Anna Da Silva Chen has appeared with the Sydney, Adelaide, Tasmanian and Canberra Symphony Orchestras, and is a laureate of the 2019 Vienna International Music Competition.

After winning the inaugural scholarship in 2010, Gallagher departed the next day to begin her studies at the Julliard School of Music in New York. She has gone on to perform with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and is the co-founder of Sydney chamber music collective, Noctiluca Arts.

Since 1933, Sydney Eisteddfod has nurtured the Australian performing arts at a grass roots level. The 2023 season is no exception, boasting an extensive program of over 350 events, many of which will be held at Chippen Street Theatre - the new home of Sydney Eisteddfod.

Located at 45 Chippen Street, the new fifty seated theatre is fully equipped with a lighting and sound area, as well as a separate foyer space, creating the perfect environment for entrants to perform in.

Come experience the incredible legacy and bright future of Sydney Eisteddfod’s home-grown talent. For more information or to book your tickets, visit: https://sydneyeisteddfod.com.au/
