SYDNEY EISTEDDFOD 2020 FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Published by: Sophie Rupp | 24-Mar-2020
As the COVID-19 crisis continues to escalate in Australia and around the world, the Sydney Eisteddfod Board has made the decision to cancel this year's competition.
Sydney Eisteddfod, a not-for-profit Performing Arts Organisation which has offered an annual Festival of over 300 events across all genres of the performing arts since 1933, has made this decision to cancel for the second time during its 86-year history. The first being during WWII.

We take the health and safety of our entrants, their parents and teachers, our valued sponsors and our loyal audience members very seriously, says Sydney Eisteddfod CEO, Piroozi Desai-Keane OAM, and believe this cancellation is in the best interests of all concerned.

All entrants are entitled to a full refund, but, have also been given the option to transfer their entry fees to the 2021 Festival or donate their fees to the organisation for a tax-deductible receipt. Sydney Eisteddfod is a non-profit organisation says Noel Cislowski AM, Sydney Eisteddfod Chairman of the Board, in challenging times such as these your support is appreciated more than ever.

In addition, next year's entry age for some events, especially some of their major scholarships, will be raised by one year so as not to disadvantage any entrants on the brink of the competition age limit.

Piroozi Desai-Keane OAM, on behalf of the Sydney Eisteddfod team, wishes everyone and their families health and safety during this challenging time. We hope to come back with our 2021 Festival bigger and better than ever before!
