Main Street - draws loosely on 80's new wave and William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience. It's about growing up and realising how fallible our beliefs, memories, and aspirations are in a post-Santa reality, and where to look for that wonder we all seem to need once we realise we're just monkeys wearing runners. According to Rolling Stone "Alice Keath's sweetly keening voice is a perfect counterpoint to the ominous undertow of 'Main Street'". Addicted to Noise described the standout track as "exhilarating ... Keath has never sung better and with more feeling".
Sime worked closely with photographer and experimental theatre maker Pier Carthew to create a captivating and visually compelling video for 'Main Street' that balances grit and humour.
Co-written by Sime Nugent & Alice Keath, Monday to Friday ranges from expansive, vintage synth-driven songs about space exploration to jangly, straight-shooting narratives of everyday life. Out through ABC Music Monday to Friday scored 4 stars from Rolling Stone Magazine, landed a spot in PBS FM's feature records and Rhythms magazine called the offering "a glorious pop gem that gets warmer, darker, more lush the more you listen...a stellar release, the finest in alternative rock / pop you're likely to find anywhere."
