Rubber Records is excited to announce Japanese jazz group Soil & "Pimp" Sessions' have released their fourth studio album 'Dapper' in Australia on Friday, May 18.
Building a worldwide reputation off the back of their pulsating live performances, the explosive Japanese jazz band combine the highest musicianship with the coolest of cool sounds and atmosphere.
Their brand of jazz is rough around the edges, unadulterated entertainment and constantly kept at boiling point.
Originally meeting at a club event in Tokyo in 2001. The Tokyo Club scene was dominated by DJs until Soil & "Pimp" Sessions arrived, breaking the mould as live pioneers.
Calling their music 'death jazz', they gained recognition for performing an original form of aggressive alternative jazz.
It didn't take long for Soil & "Pimp Sessions to be come on of the hottest news bands in Japan; joining major festival line ups including Fuji Rock.
While continuing to perform in Japan, the band expanded their playing field performing in overseas countries and at major international festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Glastonbury Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival and, of course, Sydney Festival 2014.
"Soil & "Pimp" Sessions not only manage that seeming impossibility, they do so with an intensity that would put many extreme metal groups to shame."
