Following the blockbuster success of A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest, Melbourne's Sly Rat Theatre Company' is trundling its circus back into town to the beautiful Queens Park in Moonee Ponds, proudly supported by Moonee Valley City Council. They'll be presenting their brand new take on Shakespeare's most popular and romantic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet at sunset.

Everyone remembers the romance and passion. Everyone recoils with heavy heart at the tragedy. Romeo & JULIET is one of the world's favourite stories. Across countless performances, audiences have opened their hearts to these star-crossed lovers. And its enduring popularity is no surprise "“ it's about the world's favourite pastime; falling in love.

Sly Rat Theatre honours this tradition, though this time, things are going to be a little different. Moving through time and space, Sly Rat's co-artistic directors "“ director Alan Chambers and playwright Andy Harmsen "“ have stripped, twisted, turned up the volume, and transformed this age-old tale into something that will touch your hearts in ways never dreamt of before.

Starring an ensemble of the state's finest theatre talent: Victoria Haslam and Masashi Shimamoto as our star-crossed lovers'. Brendan Ewing, Katharine Innes (off her starring role in Lioncat Studio's The Subjects and television's Fix Her Up), Harry Tseng (following his superb performance for MTC's Jasper Jones), Katherine Moss (NIDA), newcomers Ty Holdsworth & Lore Burns, Letitia Sutherland (Suburban Mayhem), and Todd Levi following his role in the Seven Network's Wanted with Rebecca Gibney.
