The 10th anniversary season of Selby & Friends will continue to delight audiences around Australia, with the third concert of the series promising to deliver breathtaking performances by some of the finest chamber musicians in the world.

Musical Offering will see cellist Timo-Veikko Valve and violinist Nikki Chooi join famed Australian pianist and entrepreneur, Kathryn Selby, in touring metropolitan and regional venues around Australia this June, presenting dynamic and vibrant performances in an intimate and friendly setting.

The critically acclaimed series, hailed as the "crème de la crème of Australian chamber music" (ABC Classic FM), will embark on a deep musical journey in the third series of this tour, exploring compositions, works and friendships "“ both new and old.

Canadian violinist and rising star, Nikki Chooi, won First Prize at the prestigious Michael Hill International Violin Competition in 2013, before completing extensive recital tours with Chamber Music New Zealand and Australia's Musica Viva and recording his debut album. Described as "vigourous and colourful" by the New York Times, Chooi is a passionate chamber musician who has been touted as one to watch.

Valve, known affectionately by his friends as 'Tipi', has performed numerous times with Selby and the pair often seek out opportunities to perform together whenever Valve's busy schedule as Principal Cello with the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) permits. Finnish-born Valve is renowned as one of the most versatile musicians of his generation, having performed to acclaim as a soloist around the world, while also performing with the ACO since 2006.

Valve feels privileged to have the opportunity to perform twice in the Selby & Friends series, especially in such a special anniversary year.

"It's a privilege to be considered a musical friend of such a prolific Australian artist, especially one who fosters the art of chamber music; the dearest of musical forms to me personally. I have been a part of the Selby family for a few years now, and I'm honoured to be part of two national tours during an anniversary season! Happy 10th Anniversary Kathy, and here's to many more!" he said.

Selby, Australia's pre-eminent chamber music pianist, boasts a string of international and Australian performance awards appraising her 'formidable talent', as the Artistic Director of the company that is marking 10 years of successfully creating artistically acclaimed musical collaborations.

Selby says of her 2016 season, "A decade is a significant milestone for an artistic venture in Australia. Selby & Friends was born out of my love for chamber music and my experience collaborating with many brilliant Australian and international guest artists, so it is fitting that in 2016 we celebrate that decade by sharing extraordinary musical talent with Australians."

Selby & Friends continues to grow audiences across the country, with some 2016 subscription series selling out. It is testament to a formula that ensures exciting and refreshing new approaches to chamber music. The repertoire at each concert series combines outstanding performers, often collaborating for the first time, with the critically acclaimed talent of Selby on piano.

Musical Offering follows the brilliant success of the first two concerts of the 2016 tour "“ Varied Virtues and Just 'C' - which were heralded as "breathtaking," "alluring" (Limelight), and "exceptional" (Sydney Morning Herald).

Musical Offering ensures that the audience will be taken on yet another masterfully executed musical journey. Tickets are on sale now via the website or by calling 1300 511 099.
