On Sunday Meredith will host a full-day workshop with students from 9.30am - 4.30pm to help them create their own unique piece of sculptural embroidery. This technique-based workshop explores the unique embroidery processes that Meredith uses in her artworks and students can expect to create their own freestanding embroidered bowl.

You can either bring your own lunch or purchase it at the cafe or hotel next door to the shop. Nesting Needles has its own kitchen with a fridge, microwave, hot water and tea/coffee facilities. There is a ramp available for wheelchair access.

Meredith's work is on display at the Gallery from 16th November 2018 until 25th January 2019.

There will be a $10.00 per person fee for material and students will need to supply the following:

A sewing machine with standard accessories including sewing table. Your machine must be suitable for "Free Motion Embroidery/Darning" and have the ability to turn the feed teeth down. Your machine must also have a freehand embroidery or darning foot.

Spare sewing machine needles (sharps or jeans needles recommended) and bobbins suited to your machine.

Small machine embroidery hoop (15-25cm is good) with a strong hold and a thread stand if you like to work with one.

1-2 squares of sample woven fabric to fit your embroidery hoop (preferably calico).

Good quality embroidery threads of your choice may be polyester machine thread or cotton/wool/metallic threads if you like to work with those.

Embroidery scissors, fabric scissors, paper towel and sketch book with pencils/pens.

Be inspired by Meredith's work at your Regional Gallery. You may like to join us for the Tamworth Textile Triennial Opening night on Friday November 16th 2018.
