Riverside Theatres is delighted to present Australian cabaret star Michaela Burger’s A Migrant’s Son, a multi-award-winning musical tribute to the heart and hilarity of Australia’s migrant stories, on stage at Riverside Theatres Parramatta Friday 3 November.
Described as a “story that millions of Australians could relate to” (The Australian), this Helpmann Award-nominated cabaret show features all-original music written and performed by Burger alongside a live band and community choir.
In this tale of strength and determination, Michaela pays tribute to her Greek migrant family and hard-working, fun loving larrikin father Luke, who defied all odds.
From early morning deliveries for the family bakery at age seven, down opal mines in Coober Pedy at age sixteen and opening a chain of discount supermarkets in Adelaide, Luke’s road was not one for the faint-hearted.
Together with Michaela, audiences will traverse 100 years from Russia to the Australian outback, following the hardship, ingenuity, tragedy and triumph present in all migrants’ stories.
