Following the sad passing of the great Aretha Franklin, many at PBS were personally affected. To honour and pay respects to the original queen of soul, PBS is proud to announce Respect - A Tribute to Aretha Franklin at The Corner Hotel, Saturday October 27.

Featuring performances from some of Melbourne's greatest vocalists including Kylie Auldist, Thando, Ella Thompson, Bec Rigby (The Harpoons), Stella Angelico, Ruth Rogers Wright, and Hannah Acfield & The Holy Halleljuahs.

Joining this huge line-up of guest vocalists is the all-female SPIRE ensemble. Launched by Xani Kolac of the The Twoks, the SPIRE ensemble endeavours to see more female musicians represented on stage.

Long time PBS DJs, Miss Goldie of Boss Action and Vince Peach of Soul Time are also joining in, performing DJ sets to open and close the night. Both have expressed their deep connection to Aretha and her music.

"With one song Aretha Franklin changed my life. On the flip side of the Chain of Fools 45 sat a ballad that resonated deeply with me. Aretha Franklin's 'Prove It' started my love affair with deep soul which continues to this day," said Miss Goldie.

Tickets are now on sale via The Corner Hotel website with PBS members receiving a 15% member discount. PBS members can email events@pbsfm.org.au with their name and member number to receive their discount code.
