Enid spent much of her girlhood growing up in Ipswich where she witnessed wildlife in a zoo within a park, on her walk to school. As a consequence, she loved drawing animals. At the same time, while a great distance away in Moscow, Russia, a young Maya loved drawing faces of people.

When Enid grew up, she became a teacher in Queensland, while Maya became a Doctor in Poland. Enid shared her love of drawing to enhance her teaching methods throughout her career. While studying at University, Enid studied Russian history for a semester, which she found highly interesting. Maya left Poland and came to Australia to live in the 1960's and turned her interests to studying art in Sydney giving birth to a new career. Maya later settled in the Gold Coast, where she had a flourishing art life for several decades and more recently, she moved to North Lakes. She joined RAS and met Enid, who had still retained her interest in the country where Maya was born.

Both artists love painting with acrylics. Enid plans her work well beforehand and then she puts her brush onto the canvas. Her love for animals is a common theme in her works. Equally, she loves the countryside and replicates beautiful scenes on canvas. Maya puts her paint on the canvas and then the work grows and presents itself and evolves into the artwork. Maya's art is evocative and full of expressive people. Maya also works in oils, pastels and watercolour. She also creates sculptures that are calming and serene, as well as repurposed works. Her style is contemporary. Come and see POWER of STYLE from 16 September and see the versatility of these two artists.
