Pop up Gallery in Red Hill
Two Mornington Peninsula artists have teamed up to bring you a Pop Up Gallery in Red Hill opening Friday 23 November. Sandi Faulkner a potter and Katrina Newman a contemporary Gold and Silversmith will be available each day for a two week period to talk about their work and welcome you to their special gallery. It will be an excellent opportunity to buy Christmas gifts and support these local artists.
Sandi Faulkner is a potter with close to 5O years experience. After art school Sandi trained under Viennese master potter Franz Kukowetz of Terra Nigra, Sandi went on to become his apprentice. Sandi also worked as a production potter and teacher at the old Chelsea pottery in London. Now working in her purpose built studio in Mt Martha Sandi makes small batches and unique pieces focusing on using ash from the remote outback and local vegetation in the glazes. Sandi is inspired by her coastal surroundings....and of course the birds!
Katrina is a gold and silversmith with over 30 years experience. Katrina studied at Canberra School of Art and Design at the Australian National University in Canberra. Katrina works from her home studio in McCrae with views across her bush garden to Port Phillip Bay and up to Arthurs Seat. Katrina’s love for the coast and our unique Australian landscapes are evident throughout her recent work. Katrina also uses the ancient technique of cuttlefish casting to create her unique style. Please ask Katrina to share the process with you when you visit the gallery.
The Gallery will be open for just over two weeks from 23 November to 9 December Tuesday to Sunday 10:30am to 4:30pm. They’ll be celebrating their collaboration with friends at the gallery on Friday 23rd from 6pm to 9pm.
