From 13th to 16th June, PACT Centre for Emerging Artists will present the world-premiere double bill, Afterglow: Generations, from two exciting artists, Cloé Fournier and Dean Walsh.

Afterglow: Generations features Fournier's solo dance work, Humanoid, which sees animal, human and robot converge to become a hybrid creature born from cultural socialisation. Fournier examines the metamorphosis of the female entity obliged to constantly adapt to a demanding society or to reconfigure, as a means for survival.

Following Humanoid, Walsh will present his powerful dance work Threshold:NRC. Using movement and spoken word, Walsh invites audiences to challenge their collective unease about contemporary politics and the environment. Walsh's practice is inclusive of people living with diverse bodies and minds, and encourages everyone to reflect upon marine and climate change understandings through an embodied, creative approach.

PACT Artistic Director and CEO, Katrina Douglas, said, "Afterglow: Generations is an important step toward supporting cross-generational exchange in Sydney's artistic community. I can't think of a better match for this than Cloé Fournier and Dean Walsh. Both artists have created incredible new performances for PACT, and I'm thrilled to be offering them to audiences in this exciting and thought-provoking double bill."

Launched in 2015, PACT's Afterglow series celebrates artists that take risks, test ideas and find unique methods of audience engagement. Afterglow: Generations is an exciting new format that aims to build a cross-generational conversation that contextualises the work of early career artists within a broad framework.

For early career artist Cloé Fournier, Humanoid is the latest in a series of successful work that includes PACT Salon: APACTALYPTIC (2018) and Between the Stacks for the City of Sydney (2017). For dancer and researcher Dean Walsh, this new piece for PACT represents the culmination of his renowned work that includes some 45 pieces of dance theatre, most recently for Accessible Arts and RUCKUS Ensemble.
