Not-For-Profit Theatre Company D2 Productions Supports Dementia Australia with 'Ruthless! The Musical'

D2 Productions is an independent boutique theatre company founded on 2 core concepts: the desire to 'give back' and focus on featuring strong female roles. The brainchild of Artistic Director, Declan Moore (Director of WTC's Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Mary Poppins & Shrek as well as MMS' Wicked) and his partner/Finance Director David Thompson, D2 Productions is set up as a Not For Profit in support of its' charity partner Dementia Australia and aims to ensure that the large pool of talented women out there are given as many performance opportunities as possible.

"Dementia is the leading cause of death of females in Australia" says Moore, "Which is why the partnership between D2 and Dementia Australia is simply perfect. We also have a personal connection to the cause and know how devastating this disease can be to families. Our aim is to not only provide quality theatre in intimate settings but also donate all profits to this worthwhile charity." continues Moore.

"We also have noticed that every time there is an audition, there is always a glut of female performers who are super talented but because of sheer volume - not everyone can get a part." says Moore. "Thus, we wanted to make sure that we showcase shows with many female roles. Not that we are ignoring the guys! Only highlighting the overwhelming female talent out there!" states Moore.

D2 Productions launched into Sydney's Independent Theatre scene with a benefit concert - 'Viva La Diva' a musical theatre journey of love, loss & laughs as seen through the eyes of its all female line up. The benefit concert sold out in just 2 days which allowed D2 Productions to make its' first donation to Dementia Australia. "We consider this first donation as a down payment for many more to come!" said David Thompson, Finance Director & Co-Owner "And we are hoping to make an even bigger donation with our next full scale production in August."

Ruthless! The Musical will be playing on 28th August - 1st September at the new Flight Path Theatre, 241 Addison Road, Marrickville. Winner of the New York Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical, Ruthless! is a razor sharp send-up of 'show biz", full of one-liners, brassy show tunes and insane plot twists!

Talented and highly ambitious 8 year old, Tina Denmark, knows she was just born to play the lead in her school play. She will do anything to win the part - ANYTHING!! That includes murdering fellow student and leading lady, Louise Lerman! But will this success be enough for Tina"¦.or will she want more?

With music by Marvin Laird and book and lyrics by Joel Paley, this outrageous and highly camp musical hit has garnered rave reviews during it's long Off Broadway run. Spoofing shows like 'Gypsy' and 'Mame' and movies like 'All About Eve', it pokes a funny satirical finger at all those 'show brats' and their quest for fame and fortune. Join us to see just how 'Ruthless!' Tina can be! Starring a stunning all-'female' cast drawn from the very best talent Sydney has to offer, this is going to be a must see night of hilarious high camp and laughter.

With the support of the larger community - D2 Productions' goal is to make a significant donation to Dementia Australia 6 Performances, 8 'Women', 2 Acts and 105 minutes of 'Ruthless!' entertainment!
