NFT event @nftmelbourne has selected @varietyvic as charity of choice to promote NFTs for good - an emerging pillar of philanthropy which sees NFT artists and creative studios support charities by pledging 10%, 20% or even 100% of the proceeds of their NFT sales, creating a powerful force for good that has helped raise and donate millions of dollars to both global and local causes. Creators can also create ongoing impact through perpetual giving by including charities in smart contracts, ensuring a percentage of proceeds continue to create a sustainable impact.

Local not-for-profit Variety – the Children’s Charity is partnering with NFT Melbourne, Australia's largest gathering of NFT curious people ranging from beginners, enthusiasts, marketers, artists, developers, entrepreneurs and collectors, to champion NFTs for good in Melbourne on Wednesday 23 March.
NFTs for good are an emerging pillar of philanthropy which sees NFT artists and creative studios support charities by pledging 10%, 20% or even 100% of the proceeds of their NFT sales, creating a powerful force for good that has helped raise and donate millions of dollars to both global and local causes. Creators can also create ongoing impact through perpetual giving by including charities in smart contracts, ensuring a percentage of proceeds continue to create a sustainable impact.
Variety – the Children’s Charity are early adopters of NFT and crypto philanthropy, both in Australia and globally. The crypto, Web 3 and NFT community are uniquely generous with over $13M in NFT proceeds donated to causes in 2021 alone and 45% of crypto holders donating at least $1,000 to charity as compared to 33% of the general population. The charity does not hold crypto or NFTs, working with their secure partner The Giving Block to process donations which are converted to FIAT before being transferred to the charity.
With requests for support at an all-time high since the pandemic and cost of living crisis with vulnerable families under more financial strain than ever, like many charities, Variety is innovating to diversify its fundraising pillars to meet demand.
