NEW MUSIC: Indie-pop artist Merpire releases synth-fueled single Hauntways' and announces Melbourne and Sydney launch shows

Published by: Sarah Guppy - This Much Talent | 31-Jan-2018
Dream-inducing songstress and captivating performer Merpire is excited to unveil her first single of 2018 Hauntways'. While following the familiar synth-pop tropes of her 2017 release Holding Breath', Hauntways' sidesteps into bedroom dancing territory in a cathartic up-tempo number that'll have you releasing all inhibitions. Taking to Melbourne and Sydney in a pair of intimate live shows, Merpire and her new all female band will launch the new single with a bunch of great local supports this March.
With an all-star team of Andy Bull on synth/keys, Luke Davison (The Preatures) on drums, and Alex Bennison (Andy Bull, Jack River, Megan Washington) on guitar/bass and production, Hauntways' is an impressive taste of Merpire's forthcoming EP. Led by the beautifully written, chilling vocals of Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt the song lilts from confession to catharsis to closure in a catchy synth-pop number whose melodies ring on long after the final croon.

"Hauntways is about a fleeting kiss. I tried writing about it now and then but it wasn't until I stood in the very spot where it happened in my hallway that this song finally came out." "“ Merpire

After touring with Ainslie Wills last year, moving to Melbourne, and acquiring a new live lineup of incredible female musicians behind her, Merpire is excited to launch Hauntways' at Melbourne's Grace Darling Hotel and a hometown show at Waywards Live Music and Comedy Bar in Sydney this March. Be sure to catch the captivating storyteller and artist on the rise at these intimate live shows, with supports from soloist Hannah Blackburn and four-piece Field Maps in Melbourne and local outfit Feelds in Sydney.
