NEW MUSIC: 60s garage outfit Baby Blue reveal catchy new single Fire And Ice' with launch shows on the horizon

Catapulting to the forefront of Melbourne's indie-garage scene with an impressive catalog of standout singles, fledging Melbourne four-piece Baby Blue are excited to reveal their latest addition Fire And Ice'. An instant classic, the new single is the first taste of Baby Blue's forthcoming EP Do What You Like set to be released later in the year by Melbourne based label Neat Lawn, following their independently released 2017 debut In My Mind. The joyous live act will be showcasing their new single at launch shows along the east coast this February.
Led by the endearingly honest Rhea Caldwell with members of Courtney Barnett, Coastbusters and 19th Century Strongmen, Baby Blue offers frank confessions and unabashed tales of intimate moments atop a distinct surf-garage-pop sound. Fire And Ice' is the complete embodiment of this. Inspired by a Robert Frost poem of the same name, Fire And Ice' offers jangly guitar riffs, reverberated vocals, momentous bass lines, and psychedelic tropes to carry a cathartic, almost meditative mantra of nonchalant vacancy and human autonomy.

"I was staying at my mothers house in Lennox Head fiddling around with an acoustic guitar there and thinking a lot about how the world is on its way to destroying humans through climate change and how my relationship at the time was falling apart because my partner and I were very different people with different ways of navigating and communicating our emotions. I just started playing the first chords over and over again to try to take my mind away from itself and the song spilled out from there. Luckily, in these times I find solace in the fact that nothing is permanent and I guess that's what I'm essentially trying to say with this song. Everything ends so do what you like with your life." "“ Rhea Caldwell

Establishing themselves as a live force to be reckoned with Baby Blue have played relentlessly around town in their mere two years together as a band, with a strong fan base continuing to build in tow. Performing alongside notable local acts Rolling Blackouts Costal Fever, The Ocean Party, Jordie Lane, Leah Senior, Emma Russack and more as well as recently supporting international outfits The Courtney's and Chastity Belt, Baby Blue are gearing up to launch Fire And Ice' at intimate headline shows along the East Coast with fellow favourites Julia Why?, Bitch Diesel, Michael Beach and Al Parkinson.

Catch the movers and shakers when they hit up your favourite city and regional venues in Wollongong, Yass, Castlemaine, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide.
