According to Menzies: “I’m drawn to steel wool because it lives within two disparate and opposing worlds, the industrial and the domestic, and this duality creates an intersecting space to play. I want to create work where meaning can overlap and flicker between such binary oppositions.”
The exhibition will showcase a number of sculptures made of wire mesh and mesh thread, complimented by a series of charcoal drawings, highlighting the tactile and tangible experience of objects in an increasingly virtual world.
Gallery Director Melinda Martin is “delighted to be presenting this new body of work by one of our Artists in Residence as part of our Linden Projects Space exhibition program in 2021. We look forward to visitors exploring this exhibition by a significant Southside Melbourne-based artist”.
