Some of the biggest names across Australian country music, pop and rock are coming to the 2017 Birdsville Big Red Bash, with headliners Lee Kernaghan, Missy Higgins, and James Reyne & Mark Seymour to perform in July 2017 at the publicly voted 'Australia's Favourite Event'.

Now in its fifth year, the runaway success of the world's most remote music festival will once again take place across three days, from July 4 "“ 6th 2017. An absolute must for any travel enthusiast and music lover, the Big Red Bash is a festival experience unlike any other in the country, if not the world.

The Bash is situated by the iconic Big Red Dune, on the edge of the Simpson Desert, 35km out of Birdsville, Queensland. Standing tall at a towering 40 metres, Big Red offers inimitable outback scenery and a spectacular backdrop to enjoy some of the country's best loved musicians, while serving up breathtaking views of the vast desert expanse and remote starry night skies.

The Big Red Bash is thrilled that its final day, July 6, will be an all day, one-of-a-kind celebration of country star Lee Kernaghan's career. 2017 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Lee's ground breaking debut album The Outback Club, the double-platinum record which went on to redefine Australian country music and cement Lee Kernaghan as one of Australia's greats.

Appropriately in the remote outback of the Simpson Desert, Lee will celebrate with a sensational exclusive day and night concert billed as the Ultimate Anniversary Show "“ Lee Kernaghan & Legends of Country, tracing his career with performances alongside a stellar collection of Australia's favourite musicians:

Christie Lamb
James Blundell
The McClymonts
Tania Kernaghan
Troy Cassar-Daley
The Wolfe Brothers

The entire day will be a country and rock gala, with performances from each acclaimed artist, culminating in an unforgettable all-star set with the man himself.

"Celebrating my 25th anniversary at the Big Red Bash, an iconic outback music festival, with a bunch of my mates from throughout my career, is going to be an event to remember," says Lee.

"We are putting together a huge show that will be an epic celebration of 25 years of The Outback Club"¦ and what better place to do that than in the Simpson Desert at the most remote music festival on the planet.

"I'm looking forward to sharing this amazing experience with everyone who makes the legendary outback journey to Birdsville. Bring on the Big Red Bash!"

The opening night of the Bash will be headlined by nine time ARIA winner and Australian music icon Missy Higgins. A hugely celebrated Australian singer, songwriter and author, Higgins' first three albums, The Sound of White, On a Clear Night and The Ol' Razzle Dazzle, have sold more than a million copies in her homeland. Each went to #1 on the Australian charts and each has also been recognised with ARIA Awards.

"I'm so excited to play this gig - to get out into the Australian desert, get some red soil on my feet and share a stage with so many incredible country artists. It's going be fun, yeehaw!" says Missy

Rock royalty takes over the second night, with a highly anticipated headline performance from James Reyne (Australian Crawl) and Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors). Between them, the pair are responsible for some of the most influential and well known songs in Australian rock history. They first toured together back in 2007, to such widespread acclaim that what had been planned as 15 dates quickly became 90. They wrapped up another tour just last month, and will be bringing the riffs to Birdsville along with some of the most talented and cherished Australian musical acts in rock and country history, including Ian Moss, Kate Ceberano, Russell Morris and Ray Ryder to deliver an incredible day of rock 'n roll on July 5, 2017.

"I always love playing both The Big Red Bash and with Mark Seymour. Together this will be a very special event," said James.

The Bash is an incredible experience for music fans, families, and travellers from all over Australia and beyond. More than 7000 visitors travelled to the sold-out 2016 Big Red Bash, which saw phenomenal performances from Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Troy Cassar-Daley, Christine Anu and more. Considering the remarkably unique, remote location, many visitors use the opportunity to embark on extensive journeys across the Australian outback.

So much more than just a music festival, the Big Red Bash allows thousands of festival goers the rare chance to experience the real outback. Not only does Big Red offer spectacular views of the Simpson Desert, but the isolated location allows matchless views of the clear night skies. And of course the bucket-list chance to drop into the iconic Birdsville Pub and meet one of Australia's remotest and friendliest communities.

The Big Red Bash is also excited to announce the Crackup Sisters as MCs for 2017. They'll be bringing the stunts, acrobatics and laughs throughout the entire festival, with their signature acts guaranteed to entertain the whole family. From circus acts and whip cracking to aerial stunts and comedy, the sisters have performed at countless events across Australia and beyond.

Tickets are on sale now at the Big Red Bash website however numbers are capped so get in fast as not to miss out on the unforgettable experience.
