Drama Classes for kids aged between 7 and 12 at Clifton Hill on Saturday mornings for two hours.

Drama With A Difference is one of Australia's leading, independent drama schools. With a history that spans more than twenty years, our students have appeared in major lead and guest roles in feature films, almost every Australian TV series in the past 20 years, endless commercials and professional theatre productions. Many of them began with us as children. We are industry professionals and casting people often call on us when casting children. We also have contacts with ethical children's acting agents that we can connect you with once we get to know you.

However, despite being a great place for budding young actors, our major mission is to offer drama classes to all children- regardless of what they think they want to be when they get older. Most children come for recreational reasons, and we provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children to express their innate creativity. Some kids come to overcome shyness, increase self-esteem, make new friends, learn to speak in front of people, or simply to have fun! No experience is necessary and all children are treated equally, regardless of their level of experience.

We make sure that fun is a major part of our drama classes for all children. When we put on performances (which usually occur later in the year), we do not cast large and small roles. We make sure that all children have more or less an equal time on stage. We do this by using a series of shorter plays, or double or triple casting the lead roles in bigger plays.

Students will learn the skills of improvisation (coming up with ideas on the spot), character work (creating characters who are very different from themselves) movement (not dance as such, but creative movement that goes along with creating different characters), voice work (which occurs as a natural part of the process of performing in front of peers in class) and a host of other skills.

The teacher of this class is deeply committed to bringing out the best in every child, and is experienced in acting as well as being a fully qualified primary school teacher. He teaches in a nurturing manner and is one of the most popular teachers that has ever been at the school.
