Ipswich photographer Jason McNamara wins the $25000 Stanthorpe Art Prize

Published by: Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery | 15-Jun-2018
This year the overall winner who received $25,000 prize money was Jason McNamara from Ipswich, with his work Clyde & Mary. The subjects of the photograph, Clyde and Mary Towler, are often seen walking the streets of Ipswich hand in hand. In this piece they were photographed in their home in Woodend, Ipswich.
The judges Ron Ramsey and Kyla MacFarlane spoke of the difficulty in picking a winner from the outstanding quality of the works on show. They shared the aspects of a work that they look for when choosing the overall winner, which was a work that asks us to return and revisit it over and over, which Clyde & Mary certainly does. Congratulations to Jason for this deserving prize.
