Introducing Brain Romance, a new outfit from Hannah Cameron and Brian Campeau + exquisite debut single 'Honest Words' + live shows

Published by: This Much Talent | 2-May-2019
Melbourne artist Hannah Cameron and Canadian-born Sydney musician Brian Campeau have long shared a mutual admiration and nurturing of one another's musical journeys.
Having released solo albums two and four respectively in 2018; Cameron's I Lay Where You Lie and Campeau's BBC 6Music endorsed Old Dog, New Tricks, the full-time friends, part-time collaborators are teaming up for good as brand new outfit, Brain Romance. Conjuring their collective indie-folk mastery, the duo's debut single 'Honest Words' is an immediately arresting refrain and one that is sure to set the tone for what's to come from this long-awaited dream partnership. With the single out Wednesday 1 May, Brain Romance is thrilled to announce some of their first-ever live shows, heading to Sydney, Melbourne, and Castlemaine at the changing of the seasons this May.

An impeccably poignant first offering, 'Honest Words' draws upon the pairs' equally lauded guitar and vocal skills to deliver an organic indie-folk masterpiece whose exquisite harmonies nestle in comfortably amongst the Simon and Garfunkel era greats. Self-produced and mixed, 'Honest Words' was recorded with help from Clio Renner on piano and Tamara Murphy on double bass and mastered by Lachlan Carrick.

Having recorded and toured as one half of folk-pop act The Rescue Ships and as part of Sydney's bluegrass revivalists The Green Mohair Suits, while also producing records for artists including Melanie Horsnell, and supporting the likes of Joanna Newsom live, Brian Campeau is an established and highly regarded musician and an essential staple of the Sydney music scene. Hannah Cameron's beguiling solo material and disarming vocal delivery has seen her open for the likes of Leah Senior, Ryan Downey, Broads and more, whilst also performing with several Melbourne based acts including On Diamond, Clio and Grand Salvo, and recently toured Europe with beloved indie outfit The Paper Kites.

Together as Brain Romance, the pair is equally as endearing in their captivating melodies as they are in their melancholic yet hopeful lyricism and are quickly claiming their place as one of the most exciting new acts of the year. Do not miss some of Brain Romance's first live shows when they play High Tea Sydney, upstairs at The Gasometer Melbourne and Castlemaine's Bridge Hotel at the end of May and keep your ears to the ground for what's to come next.
