Irish artist Gerard Byrne will present a special keynote lecture to mark the closing of MADA's Master of Fine Art graduate exhibition (12-18 February).

Byrne will focus his lecture on his moving-image practice. In Museums for playback! Byrne will use the analogy of playback as a way of delimiting the function of the exhibition and highlighting the recuperative and recall dimensions of Byrne's projects within the context of the museum. Byrne's visit to Melbourne is also supported by Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), who will be hosting different Byrne projects this year.

The eight MFA graduates, who will be showcasing their work at the MADA exhibition, range from emerging to established artists. Artists include Jackson Eaton, Carly Fischer, Alicia Frankovich, Jane Korman, Ka-Yin Kwok, Lucreccia Quintanilla, Elke Varga, and James Voller. The exhibition is an opportunity for industry professionals, future students, educators and the general public to see MADA's graduating candidates' work.

MADA will also host a one-day Fine Art Postgraduate Symposium. This will be held on 18 February from 9.30am-5.15pm.

Free entry, bookings required for Byrne lecture.
